The desktop app is a modified Chrome browser - which literally means that it contains the original code of Google's Chrome browser, but on top of it they've added some special features that are specific for the adult industry (camming and content creators).

Camerolla started in 2014 as a suite of apps for managing cam studios but since Q3 of 2022 it also has specific features for content creators and fansite agencies.
In 2018 Camerolla was released as a free service for independent Romanian camgirls (at https://modeleindependente.ro) and seeing this was a success they decided to offer the same free service for international camgirls and content creators. And so, starting December 2022, any independent camgirl can use their apps by joining https://onlymodels.cam
