Good webcams are important for a good show. The question is which one to use? What are the pros and cons of different cams and how about the price? Every week well review a new webcam from e.a. Logitech, Microsoft and HP. All cams are in HD of course. The biggest name in the webcam branch is Logitech. They produce great cams and a lot of girls still use the Pro 9000 (which has undeniably been one of the best on the market). But the cam is a couple of years old, what are the newer top models? Logitech HD Webcam C525 (mid-range) The C525 has a double jointed stand which makes it possible to let it stand alone or fold it around your monitor. The 1280 x 720 (720p) pixels give you a good video quality and especially the color rendering is really good. One little problem is that you need a decent computer to keep the stream in proper HD. Unlike the C920, it doesnt have built in video decompressing, which means that the computer has to do all the compressing work. You can capture a still image at 8 MP which gives you a nice and clear picture and the noise reduction works great on this cam, giving you a clear sound. Unlike the C920, this cam can rotate 360 degrees. Also the face tracking and autofocus work really well. This means you dont have to sit still to deliver an awesome video. You can pick the Logitech HD Webcam C525 up for under $50 at Amazon which is a decent price for a good cam. Similar webcam? I have this cam. It DOES have autofocus... But autofocus isn't all that great if you move around a lot. haha
I've got this camera, and I agree with Ash that the autofocus is not that good. I have problems streaming in HD Smiley :( and my computer is an i5 with 4mb ram and external video card... Maybe it's my internet, I can't get upload speeds above 0.5Mb because optic fiber networks are no available where I live!!! So frustrating!! because 3 blocks away they are Smiley :@
